Today Freedom First International and it’s global networks of affiliates and partner social justice organizations is now urging the Governor Ducey and officials on the ground in Arizona to investigate the unfortunate death of Jorden Marie Simms and also the serious flurry of inconstancy with reports which involve this tragedy- We are asking for this injury to begin with the Sheriff and his teams based on reports (or lack thereof) concerning Simms untimely Death.
For your information a brief synopsis of the incident is as follows:
> Jorden Marie Simms a young multiracial female- died in a hospital room after she slipped out of her handcuffs and jumped from a moving sheriff’s vehicle on Thursday December 26, 2019, police say. She accused two officers of sexually assaulting her in the days before she died. Simms was placed in custody by Safford Police Department due to an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Yavapai County. The warrant was related issues including a theft and carried a $25,000 bond. Simms was booked into Graham County Jail.
> After almost two days of the claim-,on Wednesday December 26, 2019- Simms was being taken to the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center in Safford for an exam when she allegedly removed her handcuffs, belly chains and ankle restraints (with a small bottle of hand soap as lubricant) and jumped out of the moving transport vehicle a Ford Explorer’s rear driver’s side door, according to the Graham County Sheriff’s reports. Simms throw herself from the Chevy Tahoe transport vehicle while it was northbound on 20th Avenue. The Tahoe was described as an older vehicle that can be opened from the inside, unlike other patrol and transport vehicles. Graham County Dispatch notes the incident occurred at 6:44 p.m. along 20th Avenue near the Sunshine Valley Apartments. Simms expired shortly thereafter due to the serious and critical injuries.
“Governor and officials on the ground it is our specific hope that you truly have unconditional considerations of justice for the life and family of Miss Simms in mind and also in action- as there is a basic entitlement to that much not only from the standpoint point of the constitution of the United States but as a potential serious violation “Human Rights Issue.” From my viewpoint-This story is extremely disturbing-we want an immediate investigation that is transparent, and personally as a criminal justice specialist-I am having a hard time believing that she slipped her wrists, waist and ankle restraints in the back seat of a moving transport while in the presence of trained officers.
My organization has a proven track record of fighting against major travesties of injustice with a proven track of resolution toward “justice”, and we have committed to this issue wholeheartedly!- There is no absolutely no reason for Jorden M. Simms to have lost her life. Now,we ask that you folks to the right thing.”
