Media Briefing For Immediate Release: Tuesday September 9, 2020 9am
Freedom First International stands behind, and completely supports the state of California’s decision to incorporate the New York Time’s 1619 project into their U.S. History public school curriculum. At Freedom First International, we believe that slavery is so ingrained in U.S. History, starting with the first slaves being brought over to what would later become the United States in the year 1619.
Official Press Statement-We at Freedom First International strongly urge that President Donald Trump believes that this curriculum is “rewriting” history and is a part in a wider “cultural revolution”. We would like to point out that this curriculum is a Pulitzer Prize winning curriculum, and the facts included in it are undeniable. Slavery is an integral part of U.S. History, and that needs to be clearly taught to our students, both white and people of color, in order to begin the healing process. In modern day Germany, students in higher grade levels are taught about the horrors of Nazi
Germany, Hitler, and his associates. This is an ironclad plank in their national curriculum. It was instituted so that Germany would never again repeat the atrocities of the past.We believe it is time for the American people to reckon with their past, and accept it for what it was. This can begin with this curriculum being an integral part of California’s U.S. History curriculum, and hopefully will be adopted around the entire United States.
