Freedom First International and other Community Activist To hold Press Briefing to address Community Violence Trend asking for Reform

CPD MUST Change!

WHERE:   Monday July 8, 2019 starting at  2:00pm CST. CPD Headquarters at 35th and Michigan  (3510 S.Michigan Ave Chicago, IL)

Chicago, IL– Freedom First International and Chicago Community Activist Leadership will address the Chicago violence trends of this Fourth of July holiday weekend where least six people were killed and 62 injured in shootings across the city from the start of this extended holiday weekend.

The latest crime statistics come on the heels of a weekend that, police said shootings are on the decline overall through the end of June.  But in contrast-The activist believe that these deaths are a predictable outcome of our city’s lack of political will to make a change and a long term underinvestment in prevention approaches that work in the city’s urban areas.

Public Health and Stronger Laws

The group believes- Through a public health and stronger laws approach and that focuses on drawing from evidence and addressing the factors that increase or decrease the risk of gun and community violence, particularly in Urban communities that are disproportionately impacted, but together we can save lives. The current issue and argument, misses two things: gun violence impacts every American community, and solutions will only come with a change in federal laws.

Each time community violence occurs, the discourse tends to focus on addressing the issue with a limited number of people.  We strongly support broader engagement of community members, including young people and other survivors of gun violence, policymakers, and others, in insisting that our streets be safe.

We must also insist on that same level of safety for urban places of worship, shopping malls, movie theaters, concert venues, nightclubs, workplaces, neighborhoods, and homes. Those places include the South Side, West Sides of our city.

We are listening to young people from all races, classes, and sexualities, across the city and throughout the country, who are unifying to speak truth to power. We believe CPD and Eddie Johnson must do the same.

We have renewed hope that, together, we can prevent gun violence— not just in the areas where we see mass shootings but also in the case of domestic violence, suicide, community violence, and violence involving law enforcement. The public health approach must evolve, City Officials, community forums, more attention to addressing multiple forms of gun violence.

While Mayor Lightfoot campaigned on reducing crime and made it a top priority in her inaugural address, declaring there is “no higher calling than restoring safety and peace in our neighborhoods.”

Earlier this week, Lightfoot was asked if she’s satisfied by the fact that crime is down year over year and said no “because there’s still so much more that we need to do.”

“We are ahead in violent crimes. We’re down in homicides, we’re down in shootings, and that’s because people are working really, really hard,” Lightfoot said. “Our Police Department absolutely is doing a yeoman’s job. There’s more work to be done.”

Lack of Resources

Freedom First International and advocacy leadership have grown deeply concerned about the Current 14% Homicide Clearance Rate which we believe is a complete failure of Chicago City Policing to protect the community.

“This isn’t something we’re going to allow to be swept under the rug or put up on the shelf for it to disappear,” said Bishop Gregg L.Greer. In years past especially during long hot summer days we have waited for a mystery process to start but CPD and City officials must be clear about where they are lacking resources and attack that area with determination, because if they don’t we are on a trend that will only increase.”

SARS 7-8-2019

Plan of Action

  • Today Freedom First International and Community Advocacy Leadership is asking for CPD to develop a more comprehensive dialog with residents in Chicago’s urban areas.
  • Bishop Gregg L.Greer and other community activist will address resources & underinvestment in Chicago Urban Areas.

Freedom First International and other Community Activist groups Challenge Chicago Police top brass about murdered and Missing Women

CPD MUST TELL THE TRUTH!.jpg
Freedom First International and other Community Activist groups Challenge Chicago Police top brass about murdered and Missing Women
Bishop Gregg L.Greer and Chicago Community Activist Leadership will address the police board meeting (at Chicago Police Board Headquarters) as well as conduct a press conference before the meeting urging Chicago Police Leadership and New Chicago Mayor to address explosive reports that Chicago may have a serial killer on the loose.
The Group is challenging reports that Chicago Police is working with FBI to resolve these cases, and that these cases are being swept under the rug.

Freedom First International and groups have grown deeply concerned about a growing list of more than 50 deaths in recent months.  Freedom First International agrees with the findings of the Murder Accountability Project, which shows via computer formula highlights a pattern of killings — 50 females strangled and dumped since 2001 that could suggest signal a serial killer.

Many community members are concerned that the Police are not taking the investigations of black women seriously.

“This isn’t something we’re going to sweet under the rug or put up on the shelf for it to disappear,” said CPD Supt. Eddie Johnson. “We still investigate these cases.”

Johnson says he’s deeply concerned about these 50 deaths. But the head of the Murder Accountability Project, Thomas Hargrove, says research might show otherwise.

“It’s highly unlikely these 50 women were murdered by 50 separate men,” Hargrove said.

Plan of Action

  • Tonight Freedom First International is asking The Police board including Chicago Police New Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot to stand with victims’ families and community members demanding answers and announce a task force to address the potential of Serial Killer in Chicago’s urban areas.
  • Bishop Gregg L.Greer and other community activist will ask the Chicago Police Chief to Clarify the public information that they have informed based on the 50 plus murdered women.

For Immediate Release: Freedom First International and activist will address The Mayor and City Council Demanding Justice & Investigation for a Serial Killer Targeting Black Women

CITY HALL

For Immediate Release: Freedom First International and activist will address The Mayor and City Council Demanding Justice & Investigation for a Serial Killer Targeting mostly Black Women in Urban Areas of Chicagoland!

Groups involved thus far Freedom First International, Violence Interrupters, Chicago Social Justice Network, Demand Justice, Tikkun Chai International (Humanitarian Project), Tio Hardiman, Bishop Gregg L.Greer, Rabbi Micheal Ben Yosef, Dr.Matt Harrington, and a growing list of multiple community activist.

The Chicago Police Department is revisiting the unsolved killings of more than 50 women across the city since 2001, facing pressure from community activists who say the string of slayings suggest a serial murderer is on the loose.

The CPD investigation follows a report by the Virginia-based Murder Accountability Project, a nonprofit group that analyzes information about homicides, which argued that the 51 killings —  in which most of the victims died by asphyxiation — bore the “characteristics of a serial murderer.”

Just as Jack The Ripper terrorized London in 1888, killing at least five women and mutilating their bodies in an unusual manner, indicating that the killer had a substantial knowledge of human anatomy. The culprit was never captured—or even identified—and Jack the Ripper remains one of England’s, and the world’s, most infamous.

It is with this tragic thought in mind that activist would ask the Newly Elected Mayor and Alderman for urgent Public Service Announcement notices as well as convening a task force to take immediate actions to protect vulnerable members of the community. While we all should understand that this is a very serious matter, urgency can be placed, and also certain steps should be taken to ensure a sense of urgency to assist in attempts curtaining as further murders.

For our part the activist will work with, CPD, Chief Johnson, and Police officials and any group to protect those members of our community. We (activist) demand that CPD still has time to do something about this issue but urge CPD to immediately change the trajectory and began informing the public for public safety.

Activist are hoping that this effort stand out amongst the first initiatives and are urging Lori Lightfoot to also act. For the Record we (activist) will continue our efforts to draw immediate public attention to this travesty of justice-this is taking our future.

For Immediate Release: Open Letter to Lori Lightfoot Chicago Mayor RE: Systematic Killing Spree of Young Women in Chicago

Dear Lori Lightfoot,

Good Morning Mayor, congratulations on your recent victory please accept this letter as a call for sincere urgency our community simply for justice and preservation of lives. Lori-Last night, I along with my associate Champlain addressed the C.O.P.A Board In reference to the demand for action with regards to a potential serial killer on the loose in “Poorer Urbans Areas” in Chicago with growing facts that both proven and unproven-that shows a trend of more then fifty one bodies of young women of color found with mutilated bodies found in an unusual manner in abandoned building, alleys, or garbage cans. Facts would show that a consistency that the bodies were burnt (as to destroy evidence).

For the record-I as a member of the Clergy and a Faith Leader have worked restorative justice in a community justice capacity for over 10 years based in Chicago. Our organization Freedom First International is an organization that has engaged in correcting some of the most infamous civil rights cases in America over the past ten years.

Chicago does have a serious issue- just as Jack the Ripper terrorized London in 1888, killing at least five women and mutilating their bodies in an unusual manner, indicating that the killer had a substantial knowledge of human anatomy. The culprit was never captured—or even identified—and Jack the Ripper remains one of England’s, and the world’s, most infamous.

It is with this tragic thought in mind that we would ask for a urgent Public notices and convening a task force to take immediate actions to protect members of the community. While we all should understand that this is a very serious matter, urgency can be placed, and also certain steps should be taken to ensure direction of action urgency to assist in attempts curtaining further murders.

For our part we will work with you, your office, Chief Johnson, Police officials and any group to protect those members of our community. You still have time to do something about this issue. Change the trajectory. Make a different history.

We are hoping that this effort stand out amoungst is the first initiatives after your oath of office. Again, we are hoping that this effort stand out amoungst is the first initiatives after your oath of office.

For the Record we will continue our efforts to draw immediate public attention to this travesty of justice-this is taking our future.

Sincerely,

Bishop Gregg L.Greer President of Freedom First International

For Immediate Release: Freedom First International and other Community Activist Groups Urge action about potential serial killer in Chicago’s Urban Areas
